Article ID: 924737

Article Last Modified on 10/15/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Access 2007

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click an OLE Object field in a Microsoft Office Access 2007 database table to try to open an Access 2007 database file, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Windows cannot open this file:
File: C__DOCUM~1_ADMINI~.MOS_MYDOCU~DATABA~1[1].AC
To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem follow these steps:

  1. Select the field that contains the Access 2007 database file that you want to open.
  2. Right-click the field, click Package Object, and then click Edit Package.
  3. Select the Access 2007 database file icon in the left pane, and then click Save Contents on the File menu.
  4. Type the name of the Access 2007 database file in the File name text box, and then click Save.
