INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to publish your project plan from an earlier version of Microsoft Project, such as Microsoft Office Project 2003, to a server that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2007.

The following steps describe how to publish a project plan from an earlier version of Project.

Note These steps assume that you will import an *.mpp file in a 2000, 2002, or 2003 file format. These steps also assume that the plan has accurate and up-to-date data that is ready to be imported into Project Server 2007.

  1. On the Tools menu, point to Enterprise Options, and then click Import Project to the Enterprise.
  2. In the Open dialog box, select the project that you want to import, and then click Open.
  3. In the left pane, click Map Resources.
  4. In the Map Project Resources onto Enterprise Resources dialog box, verify your resources, and then click OK.
  5. In the left pane, click Continue to Step 2.
  6. If you want to change a resource, you can double-click the resource, and then make the changes. When you have validated the resources, click Validate Resources, and then click Continue to Step 3 in the left pane.
  7. Click Map Task Fields.
  8. In the Map Custom Fields dialog box, select your fields if you have fields to map, and then click OK.
  9. In the left pane, click Continue to Step 4.
  10. To change tasks or to correct errors, you can double-click the task, and then make the changes that you want. In in the left pane, click Continue to Step 4.
  11. In the left pane, click Save As.
  12. In the Save to Project Server dialog box, type a name for your project in the Name box, and then click Save.
