SYMPTOMS
When you try to open a Microsoft Works program or file in the 2007 Microsoft Office system, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This issue may occur if you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system on the same computer as Works. The 2007 Microsoft Office system installs several document file converters. This includes a converter to read and write Works Word Processor files from Microsoft Word.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Run the Works CleanUp Utility (wks8xp.exe) to remove Works.
Note The Works CleanUp Utility is in the Works 8.0 installation CD or the Works Suite 2005 installation CD1. - Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove Windows Installer registry settings that are associated with the Works installation.
