Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office Excel 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package for Microsoft Office Excel 2003.

INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2003 issues that are fixed in the Excel 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package that is dated August 21, 2006.

List of issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:

  • 924296 An Excel chart object is not updated in a PowerPoint presentation when the chart object is opened in Excel 2003


This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • Consider the following scenario. You create a drawing on a worksheet in Excel 2003. You use the Cut command to delete the drawing, and then you delete the worksheet. Then, you try to paste the drawing as a picture on a different worksheet. In this scenario, the picture is not pasted. And, you receive the following error message:

    Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that resembles the following error signature:

    Application name Application version Module name Module version Offset
    Excel.exe 11.0.6560.0 Excel.exe 11.0.6560.0 007781c6

    Additionally, other program versions, module versions, and offsets are possible.

  • When you open a workbook in Excel 2003, you may receive the following error message:

    Errors were detected in 'filename .xls', but Microsoft Excel was able to open the file by making the repairs listed below. Save the file to make these repairs permanent.

    When you view the open workbook, all the text data is missing. However, all the numeric data appears.
