FIX: You may see high memory usage and high CPU usage for the Devenv.exe process when you have a control inside a MultiView control or a FormView control of a Visual Studio 2005 Web application

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You have a Wizard control or other controls inside a MultiView control or inside a FormView control of a Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Web application. You switch between Source view and Design view in Visual Studio 2005, or you switch between steps of the Wizard control. In this scenario, you may see high memory usage and high CPU usage for the Devenv.exe process.

Note On some computers, you may receive a System.OutOfMemoryException exception from the Devenv.exe process.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1.
