RAPID PUBLISHING

SYMPTOMS

Users are unable to move items from their inbox to other folders in their mailbox or to a .pst file.

ERROR MESSAGE (If applicable):

Can't move the items. The item could not be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was denied.


ENVIRONMENT:
Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1
Outlook 2003 Service Pack 1

CAUSE

We discovered that the working folder for email conversion was located on a slow/busy drive.

RESOLUTION

Followed the steps in KB822936 to move the working folder to a different disk.

  1. Start Registry Editor.
  2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem

  1. In the right-side pane, double-click Working Directory:REG_SZ: Folder_Path.
  2. In the String Editor box, type the path of a folder on a faster drive, and then click OK.
  3. Close Registry Editor.
