RAPID PUBLISHING ARTICLES PROVIDE INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO EMERGING OR UNIQUE TOPICS, AND MAY BE UPDATED AS NEW INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.

SYMPTOMS

ActiveSync on a mobile device fails to synchronize to a mailbox in a 2003 domain with an associated external user account in an NT4 domain. The error messages on the mobile device are as follows:
0x85010014 - ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server (per KB915152)
E_HTTP_SERVER_ERROR HTTP 500: internal server error (per KB 330463)

Users residing in the 2003 Domain synchronize successfully.

RESOLUTION

Active Sync from a mobile device to a mailbox attached to a user that resides in a 2003 environment is supported, but the configuration scenario utilizing Active Sync from a mobile device to mailboxes residing in the 2003 environment belonging to user accounts that reside in an NT4 environment was never tested, and based on my research, does not appear to be supported.
