SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. An e-mail message from a Lotus Notes server is delivered to a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 through Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes. In this e-mail message, the recipient name includes double-byte character set (DBCS) characters. In this scenario, the display name of the recipient is broken in the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) one-off address in Exchange Server 2003. If you use Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Web Access to view the e-mail message, the display name of the recipient appears as a series of numbers, for example "=xxxx=xxxx=xxxx=xxxx". In this example, "x" is a number. However, you expect the display name to be "DBCS Name <user_name@domain_name.com>".
CAUSE
This problem occurs because Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes uses the wrong code to process the display name of the recipient when the connector processes the SMTP one-off address.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the latest version of Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes. To obtain the latest version of this connector, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the following services are automatically stopped and restarted when you apply this hotfix:
- Microsoft Exchange Connectivity Controller
- Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes and all dependent services.
Hotfix replacement information
