DOCERR: No Color Library Source Included in 3.1 DDK

Q92415

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Device Development Kit (DDK) for Windows, version 3.1

SUMMARY

Section 4.1.25.3 (pg 133) of the Windows 3.1 Device Driver Kit's (DDK) Device Driver Adaptation Guide manual states that the DDK contains source code for a color library that can be linked with a printer driver. This is incorrect. The 3.1 DDK does not contain any source for a color library.

MORE INFORMATION

The 3.00 DDK shipped with sources for a color library called DMCOLOR.LIB. This color library provides 3 plane 1 bit per pixel RGB to CMY conversions. In Windows 3.1, the DMCOLOR.LIB was converted to DMCOLOR.DLL. DMCOLOR.DLL is used by UNIDRV.DLL and color minidrivers and is now proprietary information.
