SYMPTOMS

When you use a server that is running the German version of Exchange Server 2003 to deliver an e-mail message to an unknown user, you may receive a non-delivery report (NDR) message. The subject and body of this NDR message are displayed incorrectly. The NDR message resembles the following in a German e-mail client:

          +ANw-bermittlungsstatus (Fehlgeschlagen)
Dies ist eine automatisch erstellte Benachrichtigung +APw-ber den
          Zustellstatus. 
+ANw-bermittlung an folgende Empf+A0Q-nger
          fehlgeschlagen.

In a network trace, you may find that a "0D 0A 09" (CR LF TAB) character sequence is inserted in the word "Fehlgeschlagen" immediately after the "g" character in the subject of the NDR. The network trace resembles the following:
