APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Upgrade Wizard in Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 to upgrade from Commerce Server 2002 to Commerce Server 2007, you receive a System.FormatException exception error message. Then, an access violation occurs. This problem occurs when you try to migrate transaction-related data to Commerce Server 2007.

Additionally, the Upgrade Wizard stops running.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because source columns in Commerce Server 2002 contain data that is incompatible with the data type of destination columns in Commerce Server 2007. For example, if the g_UserIDChangedBy column in the Site_commerce database in Commerce Server 2002 does not contain a 32-character string, a System.FormatException exception occurs. This exception occurs when the Upgrade Wizard tries to convert the string to a GUID data type in the Commerce Server 2007 database.
