SYMPTOMS

On a print server that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, an offline printer appears as ready in the Printers and Faxes window.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • The offline printer has the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enabled.
  • The printer does not respond to an SNMP packet.


RESOLUTION

After you apply this hotfix, the print server appears as offline in the Printers and Faxes window when an SNMP time-out occurs.
