SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, the Svchost.exe process that hosts the remote procedure call (RPC) service may consume excessive CPU resources. This issue occurs when you use the Backup utility (Ntbackup.exe) to perform a backup.

In this situation, the following event is logged in the System log: Event Type: Error

Computer: <COMPUTER>
Description: Volume Shadow Copy Service information: The COM Server with CLSID {65ee1dba-8ff4-4a58-ac1c-3470ee2f376a} and name SW_PROV cannot be started. Most likely the CPU is under heavy load. [0x80080005]
