SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are running the Line Printer Daemon (LPD) service on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based print server. Additionally, you send many small print jobs to the print server. In this scenario, you experience slow performance. Specifically, each print job is delayed for two to four seconds before the print job starts.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because an Lpdsvc.dll worker thread sleeps for two to four seconds during each print job.

RESOLUTION
