SYMPTOMS

A computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP may not recognize the new Teredo address format. This format is implemented in the new IPv6 standard.

This problem may prevent the computer from communicating with other computers that are using Teredo technology.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the computer uses an obsolete Teredo address format.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
