SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You try to install the Spanish language version of either Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2003 R2 on a computer that has an Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) processor. Additionally, you start the installation process from a Windows Server 2003 CD. In this scenario, you receive the following error message at the start of the graphical user interface (GUI) installation phase:
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The Txtsetup.sif file contains an error.
- The Admide.sys file is not correctly loaded. The Admide.sys file is used to access the CD drive on a computer that has an AMD processor.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows Server 2003. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Perform an unattended installation.
Method 2
Start the installation process by using Remote Installation Services (RIS).
Method 3
Use any other method by which you do not have to access the CD drive during the installation process.
Method 4
- Use the utilities in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit to create a CD image.
Open the Txtsetup.sif file, and then locate the following line:
amdide = "Controlador de bus AMD IDE",files.admdide,amdide
Replace this line with the following:
amdide = "Controlador de bus AMD IDE",files.amdide,amdide
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
