SYMPTOMS

You are using a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer that is running Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. When the trust level of the security policy is set to "WSS_Minimal," the role provider and the membership provider cannot be called from Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
