SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server.
  • The computer sends Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) packets to a domain controller.
  • The connection to the domain controller is lost.
  • The domain controller does not respond to the LDAP packets.

In this scenario, the calling LDAP client requires up to 30 minutes to respond. This response time is longer than expected.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Server 2003 incorrectly implements LDAP.
