INTRODUCTION

This article describes an update that is now available. This update applies the new time zone setting for Sri Lanka on Microsoft Windows XP-based computers and on Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computers. When you apply the current update, the update changes the time zone from "(GMT +6:00) Sri Jayewardenepura" to "(GMT +5:30) Sri Jayewardenepura." The new time zone setting takes effect on April 14, 2006. Windows XP-based computers and Windows Server 2003-based computers that have this update installed reflect the new time for Sri Lanka.

The implications of using Microsoft Office calendaring software

This software may affect programs that use time zone information to schedule meetings. These programs may be affected because of a new operating system time zone change. After a new operating system time zone change is applied, you may have to update meetings that you already scheduled. To update these meetings with correct time information, use a program that uses time zone information.

Technical support for x64-based versions of Microsoft Windows

Your hardware manufacturer provides technical support and assistance for x64-based versions of Windows. Your hardware manufacturer provides support because an x64-based version of Windows was included with your hardware. Your hardware manufacturer might have customized the installation of Windows with unique components. Unique components might include specific device drivers or might include optional settings to maximize the performance of the hardware. Microsoft will provide reasonable-effort assistance if you need technical help with your x64-based version of Windows. However, you might have to contact your manufacturer directly.
