INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated February 7, 2006.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue.

  • 912451 A time-out occurs and data that is retrieved from the data source is not displayed if the Web service takes more than 30 seconds to send a response in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • ==== You receive an "0x80070057" error message when you try to update the properties of a picture in a picture library by using the UpdateListItems method ====

You try to update the properties of a picture in a picture library in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site by using the UpdateListItems method of the Lists service. However, the properties of the picture are not updated as expected. Instead, you receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:

    0x80070057
Check the information you entered and try again.

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

    • The schema of the picture library contains one or more computed fields that are not marked as read-only
    • The UpdateListItems method tries to update the computed fields
  • ==== You receive a "There is no file with URL 'Path/FileName' in this Web" error message when you try to restore an earlier version of a large document in a document library ====

You enable versioning for a document library in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site. The document library contains multiple versions of a large document. For example, the size of the document is more than 5 megabytes (MB). When you try to restore an earlier version of the document, you receive the following error message:

There is no file with URL 'Path/FileName' in this Web.

  • ==== Users receive an "Access denied" error message when they browse back and forth between portal sites on the server ====

You create two or more Web sites in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 to host two or more different portal sites. Each Web site uses a different port and a different authentication method. When users browse back and forth between the portal sites, users receive the following error message:

Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource.
    Access requests are not enabled.

For example, this problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

    • You create two Web sites on the server to host two different portal sites on different ports.
    • You configure one Web site to use Anonymous access and you configure the other Web site to use Integrated Windows authentication or Basic authentication.
    • A user browses through the portal site that does not require authentication, browses through the portal site that requires authentication, and then browses again through the portal site that does not require authentication.

This problem occurs because the cookie that is used to track whether authentication is required is sent to all ports on the server.
