SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. At a Special Administration Console (SAC) command prompt, you type SAC id to display identification information about a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer. This computer is using an Intel Extended Memory 64-bit Technology (EM64T) processor. In this scenario, the command incorrectly identifies the processor as an AMD64 processor.
Note The SAC id command is used with the Special Administration Console (SAC). The SAC is included in the Emergency Management Services tools in Windows Server 2003.

To apply this hotfix, you must add a REG_SZ entry that is named "ActualProcessorArchitecture" and that has a value of EM64T to the following registry subkey:

To add this registry entry, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SacDrv\ParametersNote If the Parameters subkey does not exist, you must create it. To create this subkey, follow these steps:
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
- For the name of the key, type Parameters, and then press ENTER.
- Click the Parameters subkey, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click String Value.
- For the name of the string value, type ActualProcessorArchitecture, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click ActualProcessorArchitecture, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type EM64T, and then click OK.
- Quit Registry Editor.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.

When you view the PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE registry entry to determine the processor type of a Windows Server 2003-based computer that is using an EM64T processor, the registry subkey is set to AMD64. The hotfix that is mentioned in the "Resolution" section does not resolve this issue.
