INTRODUCTION

Issues that the update rollup fixes

This update rollup fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • When the threshold is set so that the scoring pattern is "Decreasing is better," the scorecard may display the wrong status. For example, the status may be displayed as green when the status should be displayed as red.
  • You use Time Intelligence and specify a current lag value and a previous lag value. If the Adomd.net connection uses a connection string, the following error message is logged in the Application event log:

    An error has occurred while querying the time-intelligence members for a KPI Measure.
    KPI ID: e4333d54-3457-45fb-82c2-9c4f31e3fe79
    KPI Measure: Default Target
    Exception: System.Argument
    Exception: A data source must be specified in the connection string.

  • When you view a dimension, the labels for the row headers may be displayed as numbers.
  • When you try to filter a scorecard by a column, the columns are not sorted. Instead, you receive the following error message:

    An unexpected error has occurred.

  • You modify the default scorecard view in ScoreCard Builder. Then, you publish the scorecard. When you view the scorecard in a Web browser, the Person Responsible field may be incorrect.
  • You modify a scorecard that contains KPIs and report views. Then, you modify the scorecard view to enable the Enable cell selection and Pass cell selection to report view options. If you click a cell in the published scorecard, you receive the following error message:

    An unexpected error has occurred.

  • You enable the Append page filter option and the Render as image option in the Report views editor. Additionally, the page filter dimension contains an ampersand (&) in the filter name. If you use the Reports view in a published scorecard, the report is displayed as a red X.
  • You add a row member and then add an additional column, such as a Description column, to a scorecard. When you publish and then deploy the scorecard to a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services site or to a Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 site, you receive the following error message:

    There is a problem rendering this control. Please contact a system administrator.

    Additionally, the following is logged in the Application event log:

    An exception occurred while rendering a Web control. The following diagnostic information might help to determine the cause of this problem:
    System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    at Microsoft.PerformanceManagement.Scorecards.WebControls.ViewTableCtrl.InsertAdditionalColumn(TableRow tr, Table table, TargetValueCollection topTargets, HeaderItem rowHeader, ColumnProperty columnProperty, UInt32 rowIndex)
    at Microsoft.PerformanceManagement.Scorecards.WebControls.ViewTableCtrl.InsertMatrix(Table table, TargetValueCollection topTargets, Boolean[] targetFilterFlags)
    at Microsoft.PerformanceManagement.Scorecards.WebControls.ViewTableCtrl.CreateChildControls()
    at System.Web.UI.Control.EnsureChildControls()
    at Microsoft.PerformanceManagement.Scorecards.WebControls.ScorecardCtrl.CreateChildControls()

  • If you perform a copy-and-paste operation with a KPI that has a stated score in ScoreCard Builder, the scorecard may display an incorrect status. For example, if the KPI displayed a green status before you performed the copy-and-paste operation, the pasted KPI may display a yellow status.

Prerequisites

The following list contains prerequisites for the update rollup:

  • Update Rollup 1 must be installed on the Business Scorecard Manager 2005 original release version build 1091 for English and original release version build 1098 for other languages. Update Rollup 1 is not supported for any prerelease or trial build of Business Scorecard Manager 2005.
  • Update Rollup 1 contains two .msp files for each language. Both builder and server .msp files must be deployed together to make the update rollup work. Therefore, all the builder-targeted computers must install the builder .msp file. Additionally, all the server-targeted computers must install the server .msp file. If you deploy one .msp file without the other, unexpected results may occur. Additionally, this is not a supported configuration.

  • English
  • Spanish
  • German
  • French
  • Japanese

Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Update Rollup 1 contains the following .msp files:

  • BSMBuilder2005-kb912059-x86-enu.msp

Both .msp files must be deployed to resolve the issues that are listed in the "Issues that the update rollup fixes" section. If only one .msp file is installed, the issues will not be resolved. Additionally, unexpected problems may occur. The English version of this hotfix uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the hotfix.
