SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1-based computer, you add or remove many users over time. You then receive the following error message, and the computer unexpectedly restarts:

Insufficient resources exist on the machine to complete this operation.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the registry has become corrupted.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
