SUMMARY

This article lists the Microsoft COM+ bugs that are fixed in the Microsoft Windows XP Post-Service Pack 2 (SP2) COM+ Hotfix Rollup Package 12. Each package contains all the fixes that were released in the previous Windows XP Post-SP2 COM+ hotfix rollup packages.

Issues that are fixed in this hotfix package

The following issues are fixed in this hotfix package:

  • 911194 FIX: The ObjectControl_Activate method may not be called for a component that is written in Visual Basic when a client application tries to create a COM+ component

  • 905551 FIX: An endless loop in the CEventDispatcher::RemoveEventBuffer function in the Comsvcs.dll file causes the host COM+ application to stop responding on a computer that is running Windows XP Service Pack 2

  • 908473 FIX: A Failure Audit event with event ID 560 appears in the Security log when you enable object auditing in Windows XP or in Windows Server 2003

  • 910234 FIX: Error message when a serviced component in a COM+ application calls another serviced component in a second COM+ application: "0x8004E027"

The following issues are also fixed in this hotfix package. These issues were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) stops responding when the Disconnect method is called.
  • MSDTC leaks memory when the server is under heavy load conditions.
  • A DLL host process may stop responding when a message transfer agent (MTA) object is shut down.
  • A failfast condition occurs when pooled objects run in a lightweight transaction that is not promoted before the end of the transaction.
  • A failfast condition occurs if an asynchronous callback is made before the fields for an object are initialized.
  • DCOM permissions are restored to default settings when all permissions are removed.
  • An access violation occurs in the CSecurityCallCtx::Init method in the Comsvcs.dll file.
  • COM+ transactions are delayed 15 seconds when the transactions are called from Microsoft ASP.NET applications or COM+ library applications.
