SYMPTOMS

When you configure the TN3270 service in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 to support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, the TN3270 service may not start. Additionally, event messages that resemble the following may be logged in the Application log:

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the TN3270 service incorrectly calls the CertGetCertificateChain function together with the dwFlags parameter set to CERT_CHAIN_REVOCATION_CHECK_CHAIN. The dwFlags parameter should be set to CERT_CHAIN_REVOCATION_CHECK_CHAIN_EXCLUDE_ROOT instead.

RESOLUTION
