Microsoft has released a service pack for Microsoft Office 2003 that contains fixes for Microsoft Office Access 2003.

INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Office Access 2003. Some of the fixes that are included with Office 2003 SP2 were previously released in Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or in separate updates. Office 2003 SP2 combines the previously released fixes into one update. You receive a "This database is in an unrecognized format" error message when you open a database that was originally created in Access 2000

When you open an .mdb file in Access 2003, the database file does not open. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

This database is in an unrecognized format.

The database may have been created with a LATER version of Microsoft Office Access than the one you are using. Upgrade your version of Microsoft Office Access to the current one, then open this database.

This problem may occur if the original database file was created in Access 2000 and then converted to Database (Access 2002 - 2003 file format).

You receive a "Run-time error '2467'" error message when you work with a control programmatically in the detail section of a report

When you work with a control programmatically in the detail section of a report, the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro stops. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Run-time error '2467':

The expression you entered refers to an object that is closed or doesn't exist.

This problem may occur if a control is contained in the header of the report.

The registry keys for the Snapshot Viewer control are updated

Office 2003 SP2 updates the registry keys that are added when you add the Snapshot Viewer control to a UserForm in Access 2003.

A record in a linked SQL Server 2000 database table is not correctly updated when you modify the record in an Access 2003 database table

When you modify a record in an Access 2003 database table, the record in the linked Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database table is not correctly updated. Instead, the new data is recorded in the wrong record.

This problem occurs if the record that you modify is displayed as part of the recordset that is returned by a query. For example, the record might be displayed in a subform. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The Filter property is not applied in a UserForm

You run Access 2003 in sandbox mode. When you try to use the Filter property in a UserForm, the property is not applied in the UserForm.

For more information about Microsoft Jet Expression Service sandbox mode, click Microsoft Office Access Help on the Help menu, type sandbox mode in the Search for box in the Assistance pane, and then click Start searching to view the topic.

The DefaultValue property is not applied in a UserForm of an .adp file

You try to use the DefaultValue property to automatically populate a string value in a field. When you try to use the DefaultValue property, a new record is created in a UserForm of an Access project (.adp) file. When this problem occurs, the DefaultValue property is not applied. This problem may occur if you also use the FetchDefaults property in the UserForm.

When you try to update the data in tables that are linked to an Excel workbook in Microsoft Office Access 2003, you cannot edit, add, or delete data in the tables
