SUMMARY

Microsoft has released a service pack for Microsoft Office 2003 that contains fixes for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.


INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. Office 2003 SP2 contains security enhancements, stability improvements, and performance improvements. Some of the fixes that are included in Office 2003 SP2 were previously released in Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or in separate updates. Office 2003 SP2 combines the previously released fixes into one update.

Some appointments may not be included in the exported Web page
If you use Save as Web Page to export your calendar, some appointments may not be included in the exported Web page. This issue may occur when you use a language that is different from English in Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.


An e-mail message is sent from the default account if you try to send the e-mail message from an account that is not the default account
You try to send an e-mail message to a personal distribution list (PDL) that contains a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) address. If you try to send this e-mail message from an account that is not the default account, the e-mail message is still sent from the default account. This issue may occur when you have a fax program installed.


The call to the MAPI ConfigureMsgService method does not increase the handle count
You write a custom program that uses the MAPI ConfigureMsgService method to create and configure profiles. However, when the MAPI ConfigureMsgService method is called, the handle count does not increase. The call to the MAPI ConfigureMsgService method causes a handle leak.


Some items in a deleted profile may exist in a new profile that has the same name as the deleted profile
You delete a profile, and then you create a new profile that has the same name as the deleted profile. When you reuse the name of the deleted profile, some items in the deleted profile may exist in the new profile.


Excessive downloads of the full Offline Address Book may cause high network traffic
You may experience high network traffic that is caused by excessive downloads of the full Offline Address Book.


A control that is associated with a text field on a custom form may appear to be blank
You have a custom form that has a text field that contains lots of text. The control that is associated with this text field may appear to be blank in Outlook 2003.


Outlook 2003 cannot reestablish a secure SMTP connection after the previous connection fails because of a server-side issue
You try to use Outlook 2003 to reestablish a secure SMTP connection after the previous connection fails because of a server-side issue. When you do this, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

Task 'ServerName - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

To reestablish a secure SMTP connection, you must restart Outlook 2003.


Outlook 2003 cannot download e-mail through Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) after a connection to the server is restored
When Outlook 2003 automatically tries to download e-mail through POP3 after a connection to the server is restored, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:

Task 'ServerName - Receiving' reported error (0x80040125) : 'Changes made to the item were lost due to a reconnect with the server.

After you restart Outlook 2003, Outlook 2003 downloads e-mail through POP3 without any errors.


"Signed by" may be blank when you receive a signed e-mail message from a custom form
You have a custom form that contains a Signed by box. When you receive a signed e-mail message from this custom form, Signed by may be blank.


A rule is not applied if the default delivery location is set to a personal folders (.pst) file
You create a rule that moves e-mail messages to a .pst file when you receive new e-mail messages. If the default delivery location is set to a .pst file, the rule is not applied when new e-mail messages are received.


A meeting request update is not processed correctly by Collaboration Data Objects for Exchange (CDOEX) or by Collaboration Data Objects for Windows 2000 (CDOSYS)
When you use CDOEX or CDOSYS to accept and respond programmatically to a meeting request update, the meeting request update is processed correctly. However, if you delete this meeting request update from Outlook 2003, the corresponding meeting item in the calendar is also deleted.


Outlook 2003 does not enable the bow logs when you click to select the "Enable logging (troubleshooting)" check box

Outlook 2003 cannot correctly synchronize the updated Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services items
