SUMMARY

Microsoft has released a service pack for Microsoft Office 2003 that contains fixes for Microsoft Office Publisher 2003.

INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Office Publisher 2003. Office 2003 SP2 contains security enhancements, stability improvements, and performance improvements. Some of the fixes that are included with Office 2003 SP2 were previously released in Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or in separate updates. Office 2003 SP2 combines the previously released fixes into one update.

Custom tab settings are reset to the default value of 0.5 inch

You open a Microsoft Publisher 2000 publication that contains custom tab settings. When you save the document in Publisher 2003, the custom tab settings are overwritten and reset to the default tab settings of 0.5 inch. This issue occurs when the Allow background saves option is turned on in Publisher 2003.

You receive a "Please choose another printer" error message when you try to print in Publisher 2003

You install a network printer on a client computer by using a command-line command.

For example, at a command prompt, you type a command that is similar to the following command, and then you press ENTER:

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /y /ga /n\\server\printer

Note In this command, \\server\printer is the location and printer name of the network printer that you want to install on the client computer.

When you try to print a publication in Publisher 2003, the publication does not print. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Please choose another printer.

Publisher cannot find the printer "\\server\printer" for this publication.

To select a different printer, click OK.
To return to Publisher now, click Cancel.

When you use Publisher 2003, the program may unexpectedly quit (crash). Additionally, you receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
