SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have two separate storage systems that use fiber connection on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based cluster node.
  • One storage system hosts a quorum disk resource. The other storage system does not host a quorum disk resource.
  • You create a mirror volume of a local disk dynamic volume on one storage system. This dynamic mirror volume is not a cluster resource.
  • You start to copy files from a local disk volume to the dynamic mirror volume by using Windows Explorer.
  • The storage system that does not host the quorum disk resource is disconnected for some reason. For example, the quorum disk resource may be disconnected because of a hardware connectivity issue.

In this scenario, the dynamic mirror volume is disconnected after about twenty seconds, and the file copy process is discontinued.
