SYMPTOMS

An application calls an SNA status provider Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) method in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 to stop a logical unit or a host connection. When this behavior occurs, you may receive an "access denied" error message.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Click Start, click Run, type wbemtest, and then click OK.
  2. Click Connect, type root\MicrosoftHIS in the Namespace box, and then click Connect.

    Note If you are connecting to a remote computer that is running Host Integration Server 2004, type \\ServerName\root\MicrosoftHIS in the Namespace box, and then enter valid user credentials in the Credentials section of the dialog box.
  3. Click Execute Method, and then type the following text in the Object Path box:

    MsSnaStatus_Lu3270.Name=”logical_unit_name

    Note logical_unit_name is the name of the logical unit that you want to stop.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Execute! to execute the method.
