SYMPTOMS
In the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, when you repeatedly call the IMetaDataEmit::GetTokenFromSig function on an assembly from a Microsoft Visual C++ based application, the assembly may return the E_INVALIDARG error. Typically, this problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- The assembly is small.
- You call the IMetaDataEmit::GetTokenFromSig function on the assembly approximately 7,000 or more times.
Note This problem does not occur with the Mscorlib.dll assembly.
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
