BUG #: 395825 (SQLBUDT)
BUG #: 398194 (SQLBUDT)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services, you may experience one of the following problems:

  • When you try to export a large report that contains many graphs to Portable Document Format (PDF), a "System.OutOfMemoryException" error message is written to the Reporting Services log files. Additionally, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) automatically recycles because of excessive memory use.
  • When you export a report that contains multiple images to Microsoft Office Excel workbook format, a spreadsheet file is created. However, you cannot open this file in Excel, and you receive an error message that is similar to the following:

Errors were detected in 'FileName.xls,' but Microsoft Office Excel was able to open the file by making the repairs listed below. Save the file to make these repairs permanent.
Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.

Note FileName.xls is the name of the exported spreadsheet file.
