APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004, AS/400 print sessions may not print correctly when you configure the Host Print Service to use languages that are printed from right to left. For example, Arabic and Hebrew are languages that are printed from right to left. The characters in a word may be in the correct right-to-left order. However, the words as a whole are printed from left to right.

Note Languages that are printed right to left use Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code (EBCDIC) code pages. For example, Arabic uses the EBCDIC code page Arabic 20240. Hebrew uses the EBCDIC code page Hebrew 20420.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Host Print Service does not print a line of text for AS/400 print sessions as a whole unit. Instead, the AS/400 print sessions are printed word by word.
