SYMPTOMS

You cannot create more than one domain-based Distributed File System (DFS) namespace on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

Note Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition and Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition support more than one DFS namespace per computer. However, Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition supports only one domain-based DFS namespace or one stand-alone DFS namespace per computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.

After you apply this update, Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition can support more than one domain-based DFS namespace. However, this update does not enable Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition to support more than one stand-alone DFS namespace.
