SYMPTOMS
When you open the Disk Management snap-in, the following symptoms may occur:
- The File System column of a volume is blank.
- The Capacity column of a volume and the Free Space column of this volume display the same number of gigabytes. Additionally, the % Free column of this volume displays 100% even though this volume is not actually empty.
This problem occurs when you use a third-party file system in Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, right-click the volume in Windows Explorer. Then, click Properties to examine the free space of the volume.
Note The name of the file system is still not displayed for the third-party file system. Additionally, Windows Server 2003 needs several minutes to calculate the free space for a volume that is large.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
