SYMPTOMS
The logon process stops responding when a user or administrator tries to log on to a Microsoft Windows 2000 domain or a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 domain from a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer. The logon process stops responding when the user or administrator receives the following message:
Additionally, the size of the following file on the Windows Server 2003-based computer may increase significantly:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\brndlog.txt
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of an alignment problem when the Cs.dat file is read on the Windows Server 2003-based computer. When the Internet Explorer import Group Policy object (GPO) is applied to the Windows Server 2003-based computer, a Cs.dat file is created. When this GPO is applied to the Windows Server 2003-based computer, the branding mechanism loops continuously when it reads the Cs.dat file.
