Bug #: 474332 (SQL Server 8.0)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2000 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2000 fix release.
SUMMARY
This article describes the following about this hotfix release:
- The issues that are fixed by this hotfix package
- The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package
- Whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package
- Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix package
- Whether you must make any registry changes
- The files that are contained in the hotfix package
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft SQL Server 2000, an access violation may occur that may cause the SQL Server process to exit. You experience this problem when you run a SELECT query and all the following conditions are true:
- The NO_BROWSETABLE option is set to ON.
- You use a SELECT statement that includes an index hint on a table.
- The index hint that you use in the SELECT statement is unique.
- You do not have permissions on one or more of the columns in that index.
- The table does not have any clustered indexes.
Note Some client applications automatically set the NO_BROWSETABLE option. For example, Microsoft Office Access sets the NO_BROWSETABLE option for results processing.
Note This hotfix is available for both SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 and SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4.
For a list of all publicly released SQL Server 2000 Post-Service Pack 3a hotfixes, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
