SYMPTOMS
You notice that the Svchost.exe process encounters an access violation error. Additionally, services that are running in the Svchost.exe process stop responding. These services include the following services:
- The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service
- The Server service
- The Workstation service
CAUSE
This problem may occur if invalid input parameters are used in the wbem_wcsicmp() function. When an invalid parameter is received, the wbem_wcsicmp() function in the Repdrvfs.dll file generates an access violation. Then, the Svchost.exe process closes.
RESOLUTION
