SYMPTOMS

When you try to create a new Microsoft CRM user by using the Microsoft CRM Deployment Manager tool, you receive the following error message:

An error occurred while retrieving the list of users in Active Directory. For more information, Contact your system administrator.

Additionally, all the following Error events are logged in the Application log of the computer that is running Microsoft CRM Server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you have the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta release installed on the computer that is running Microsoft CRM 1.2 Server.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
