APPLIES TO

SYMPTOMS

When you open an opportunity and then click the Administration tab in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2, the number 341 appears in the Status Reason list.

You expect the correct status to appear in this list. For example, you expect one of the following values to appear in the Status Reason list of that opportunity:

  • In Progress
  • On Hold


CAUSE

This problem occurs if all the following conditions are true:

  • One or both of the updates that are described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles are installed:

    892949 Update rollup 1 is available for Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook 1.2

    841284 Microsoft Business Solutions CRM version 1.2 hotfix for 830360 and 839156

  • The Microsoft CRM opportunity that you experience this problem with was converted from a lead.
  • The Status Reason field of the opportunity is set to Business Required.


RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, modify the Status Reason field for opportunities to remove the Business Required value. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Microsoft CRM by using the Web client.
  2. Click Home to open your home page, and then click Settings.
  3. Click System Customization, and then click Opportunities.
  4. Under Common Tasks, click Customize Form.
  5. Click the Administration tab, click Status Reason, and then click Change Properties.
  6. Click the Schema tab, and then click No Constraint in the Select the requirement level. If the field is system required, you cannot override it list.
  7. Click OK, and then click the Save and Close button.
  8. Click Home to open your home page. On the File menu, click Exit.
  9. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft CRM, and then click Deployment Manager.
  10. Right-click Deployment Manager, point to All Tasks, and then click Publish Customization.
  11. In the Publish Objects dialog box, click to select the Opportunity check box, and then click Next.
  12. Click Add, click the Web server to which you want to publish the changes, click Add, and then click Finish.
  13. When Publish completed successfully appears in the Status dialog box, click OK.
  14. Quit the Microsoft CRM Deployment Manager tool.
  15. Reset Microsoft Internet Information Services. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
    2. At the command prompt, type iisreset, and then press ENTER.
    3. Type exit, and then press ENTER.
