SYMPTOMS

You create a new activity in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2 or in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Sales for Outlook (the Outlook client). You then click Save and Close. The activity record is saved. However, the activity Web page is not closed. Instead, a Microsoft Internet Explorer window briefly appears and then closes. To close the activity Web page, you have to use one of the following methods:

  • On the File menu, click Close.
  • Click the Close button (the box with "x" at the upper right of the screen).


CAUSE

This problem occurs if you applied one of the following Microsoft CRM hotfixes to the Microsoft CRM server and to the Outlook client computer:

840058 An Internet Explorer message appears when you promote an e-mail to a Microsoft CRM activity in Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook 1.2


886355 Microsoft CRM 1.2 Hotfix Rollup for 840058, 841648, 843172, 870575, 888004, 888005, and 888006


890597 A Microsoft CRM workflow that is based on an Opportunity Change Status event does not work correctly after you install Hotfix KB833621


RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
