INTRODUCTION
This article describes the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated February 28, 2005.
Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- SharePoint Portal Server 2003 may load an incorrect IFilter if you use a custom protocol handler
Consider the following scenario. You use a custom protocol handler in your SharePoint Portal Server 2003 environment. In this scenario, SharePoint Portal Server 2003 uses the file name extension instead of the MIME type of a file to determine the IFilter to load. This condition may cause SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to load an incorrect IFilter.
