SYMPTOMS
When you start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 after you install the Flight Simulator 2000 Update, you may receive the following error message:
When you view the details of the error message, you receive the following error signature:
AppName AppVer ModName ModVer Offset --------------------------------------------------------------- fs2000.icd 7.0.0.5010 unknown 0.0.0.0 ffff009b
Alternatively, you may be prompted to insert the Flight Simulator 2000 CD, even though it may already be inserted. Additionally, Flight Simulator 2000 stops responding during startup.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because Flight Simulator 2000 includes all the updates to Flight Simulator 2000. These updates include the Flight Simulator 2000 Update. Additionally, the Setup program for the Flight Simulator 2000 Update does not detect that the files are already updated and overwrites them.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, remove and then reinstall Flight Simulator 2000.
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
- Click Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, and then click Add/Remove.
- When you are prompted to confirm the removal of Flight Simulator 2000, click OK.
- Insert the Flight Simulator 2000 CD into the CD drive.
If the installation program does not start automatically, follow these steps:- Click Add New Programs.
- Click CD or Floppy.
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
- Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install Flight Simulator 2000.
