SYMPTOMS

When the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) service is disabled, the setup process for any one of the following updates stops responding on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer:

  • 823230
  • 913580
  • 911280

The Software Update Installation Wizard appears to stop responding as it is displaying the Finishing installation dialog box. The Details box shows the following message:

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the latest COM+ 1.5 Rollup Package for Windows Server 2003, or upgrade to Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
