SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services, when you perform an incremental update of a changing dimension, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:


Analysis Server Error: Connection to the server is lost
Rolling back transaction in Database 'Database Name'
Connection to the server is lost


An error message that is similar to the following may appear in the Event Viewer Application log on the Analysis Services server:


Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSSQLServerOLAPService
Event Category: Server
Event ID: 117
Date: Date of Event
Time: Time of Event
User: N/A
Computer: Analysis Server Computer Name
Description: Unexpected fatal error occurred. Attempting to restart server.

This hotfix requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Service Pack 3 (SP3).
