FIX: Setting the address of the static field of a thread to the local managed pointer does not set the value of the local managed pointer in the Common Language Runtime 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When you set the address of the static field of a thread to the local managed pointer, the value of the local managed pointer is sometimes not updated in the Microsoft Common Language Runtime 1.1.

Note The expected behavior is that the value of the local managed pointer is linked to the update of the static field of the thread.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
