SYMPTOMS

When your application sends an IOCTL_ATA_PASS_THROUGH input/output control (IOCTL) handler to process an input/output (I/O) function call by using the METHOD_BUFFERED method, you may experience the following symptoms:

  • Your application receives the following error flag:

    STATUS_IO_DEVICE_ERROR

  • Your application cannot send a DMA protocol command or a DMA QUEUED protocol command.
  • If your application sends the ATAPI interface the FlushScatterGatherList method, and you have a non-DMA device, the data buffer is overwritten with zeros.
