SYMPTOMS

When you insert a host bus adapter (HBA) for the first time into a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, and then you turn on the power for the HBA slot, the HBA is detected and installed. However, the HBA device is displayed in Device Manager with a black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field. In this scenario, the device properties may indicate a status of Code 32, and the device driver is set to disabled.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, turn off the power for the slot, and then turn it on again.
