Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. Windows SharePoint Services SP1 contains significant security enhancements and stability and performance improvements.

When you try to paste text in the body of a new announcement in a Windows SharePoint Services Web site, text that contains extended characters is not pasted.
When you type a non-breaking space in the properties of a file in a Windows SharePoint Services Web site and then save the changes to the XML file, the file is corrupted and the following programs cannot read the file:

Additionally, other program versions, module versions, and offsets are possible.
The original release version of Windows SharePoint Services does not have built-in functionality that lets you install updates such as hotfixes. Therefore, you cannot install a Windows SharePoint Services update such as a hotfix on a computer that is running the original release version of Windows SharePoint Services.
