SYMPTOMS

You cannot print to a printer on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer by using the Line Printer Remote (Lpr) command-line tool. When you try to print by using the Lpr command-line tool, you receive the following error message:

Error: print server did not accept request. Job aborted.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • You stop and then restart the TCP/IP Printing service or the Print Spooler service on the server.
  • The TCP/IP Printing service does not restart correctly.


RESOLUTION
